Outreach Case Workers in our Gun Violence Prevention Program at 18 Degrees are focusing on the welfare of our youth, to avoid negative impact and succeed in their futures by identifying their goals & strengths and tracking progress; coordinating needed services; providing warm referrals, individualized support & advocacy;
and facilitating groups.

Required:

  • Build community connections and work as a member of a supportive team.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, and an understanding of the systemic, socio-economic, and educational barriers facing vulnerable youth and young adults.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining appropriate boundaries
  • Knowledge of trauma and its impacts on developing youth and young adults

  • The Family Support Worker (FSW) is responsible for organizing and facilitating educational and support groups for youth and parents, providing community outreach, and assisting people to access community resources.
  • Must be able to work with diverse populations, network and build relationships, and work effectively as a team member.
  • Knowledge of parenting skills and child development, strong organizational and communication skills a must.
  • Experience working with individuals and families and familiarity for community resources required.
  • Must be able to utilize computer-based information systems and maintain accurate records.
  • Bi-lingual in English and Spanish essential.
  • Some Saturdays and evenings required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or minimum 5 years related experience

Minimum Required Experience: Experience working with families and networking with professionals. Hiring staff with relevant lived experience is desirable, but not required.  Some knowledge of community resources preferred.

Do you enjoy helping our future generation grow and succeed? The classroom liaison is responsible:

  • To help each child attain success in the classroom.
  • Utilize the Second Step Curriculum to facilitate group activities for children in partnership with their classroom teacher to support social/ emotional growth and competency.
  • Help teachers brainstorm ways to help children build on their regulation and coping skills.
  • Act as a liaison between care givers, child care staff and other supportive services.
  • Work with Collaterals including pediatricians, school system resources, early intervention providers, etc.

Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree with 1-3 years of relevant experience.

Experience: Two or more years of human service experience, preferred. Experience working with children and families, preferably in a classroom or group care setting preferred. Experience with child development and/or child welfare. Bi-lingual (Spanish)/multi-lingual abilities, preferred.
