About Healing Homes

With more than 100 years of service in Western Massachusetts, we are the trusted resource in providing temporary and permanent families for children in need. We work with potential foster parents, educating them on the process and what you can expect. When you choose to become a foster parent, we will be with you every step of the way. We provide education on the process and what you can expect. Becoming a foster parent is a choice to make a profound impact on a child’s life. You will have the full support of our professional team. We provide you with the tools you’ll need with extensive training. Meanwhile, we take the time to learn about you, so we can recommend the right fit between you, your family and your foster child.

Your Foster Family

When you become a foster family, you have made the choice to establish a vital base of support for a child who has experienced familial and personal challenges. As a foster parent, you are an integral part of the solution for a child to realize his or her potential. Our support team includes the Healing Homes social worker, a social worker from the state,the child’s therapist, school personnel and other service providers. Together, we create a plan and meet on a regular basis.

Financial Support & Benefits

Foster parents are provided with a minimum tax-free stipend of at least $375 a week. All foster children receive full medical and dental benefits, a quarterly clothing allowance, birthday and Christmas/holiday funds. We also provide limited funding for activities such as summer camp, music lessons, sports and after-school programs.

The Healing Homes program provides all the support you will need, including:

  • 30 hours of pre-service training
  • Pre-placement visits to your home by the child and family resource worker
  • Weekly visits by our social worker
  • 24-hour emergency on-call staff
  • Monthly training and support groups
  • Clinical services by licensed professionals
  • Seven days of paid respite per year

We are looking for families who are caring, competent committed adults. We look for:

  • Both single and two-parent families
  • Families with or without children of their own
  • Homes with the physical space to accommodate for the needs of your foster children
  • Families who have the ability to meet the needs of children
  • Diversity in all respects
